Is there a fee to join the
Memphis Mentoring Partnership (MMP)?
Membership in the
Partnership is currently free of charge to all non-profit agencies who
have or want to start a youth mentoring program.
Who can join MMP?
All non-profits and
faith-based institutions that currently have or want to start a mentoring
program for youth are invited to join.
What if our mentoring program
only caters to adult/adult or family relationships?
The Memphis Mentoring
Partnership currently only provides support for those mentoring youth.
When MMP is fully implemented in the future, and if there is
sufficient demand and financial support for growth beyond the original
mission, we might expand the Partnership to include other forms of
mentoring.
What is required to join?
Each agency must complete the
Program Survey/Registration form, sign a memorandum of agreement, and
provide a 501(c)3 form or comparable proof of non-profit status. All
required forms are available on the website.
What benefits do I get as a
member?
The Memphis Mentoring Partnership
provides a wide variety of training opportunities and technical support
and assistance to members. Workshops are offered on such topics as risk
management, volunteer recruitment, and program evaluation, train the
trainer, plus many more! The
Partnership also provides a limited number of free background checks for
volunteer mentors and an unlimited amount at a cost substantially reduced
compared to the average cost for this service. The MMP website provides
access to sample forms and materials and links to a broad range of
resources. Volunteer Memphis will also recruit and refer mentors to
registered MMP member agencies.
How does our mentoring program
become accredited through the MMP?
Full accreditation is granted when
a program can demonstrate that all elements of the adopted standards have
been implemented. Through the program assessment process based on those
standards, program leaders can determine areas where change or assistance
may be needed. MMP workshops are designed to address those standards and
provide information and resources program providers need to comply with
MMP standards.
Why should we work toward
accreditation?
The purpose of MMP is to form a
strong network of youth mentoring organizations to raise the level of
services provided to youth and to expand the capacity to serve more of our
young people. In addition to services all membership levels enjoy,
accredited members are entitled to:
